FLAMINGO ISLAND

This day has been on my bucket list since I first saw a picture of the flamingo's upclose and personal around our species. On Bonaire we are known for our flamingo's, but they are wild and super scared of people so you can only wish to capture an amazing shot with/of them before they fly away. So when we decided to go to Aruba for a family occasion, the first thing that was on my mind was to visit the Renaissance Island.  I contacted my blogger friend Chris which is a regular and asked him for tips before going. He advised us to go early in the morning, which we did! I was up by 6 am to get ready and was at the Renaissance hotel by 7:15 am. We bought our tickets and were in the boat by 7:30 am to go to the well known Renaissance Island to spend the day with the flamboyant flamingo's. We were the first one's to be on the Island, so we had about 30 minutes to our selfs to enjoy, relax and take some pictures with them. At 8 am the other visitors slowly arrived to the Island. So waking up extra early was totally worth to spend some alone time.

As soon as you set foot on the Island you will walk up to a sign which will indicate which side of the Island the flamingos are situated. We followed the directions, and there they were, elegant and flamboyant as expected. They where walking around the Island not scared of a soul! As soon as they see people they would walk up and show themselves off. If you want them to come closer to capture some pictures, u should go to a the food vending machine at the entrance which only accepts American quarters in exchange for some treats. When you feed them, they'll become your best friend!

If this place is on your bucket list to visit, please do! It's a little on the pricy side ($99 p.p.) but you will get the boat ride to and from the Island, a lunch menu were you can choose from, a beverage of choice (alcoholic or non- alcoholic), towel, snorkel a mat float or any other non-motorized water sport to chill on the water. So at the end of the day it is worth the money, especially if you spent the whole day on the Island. The boat start to take people to the Island by 6 am and will go back and forth every 30 minutes till 8 am. After 8 the boat will depart every 15 minutes till what I believe is 6 pm.

Hope you have encounter a couple of valid information, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask me and I will do my best to answer them.
